Clear quartz is the most abundant mineral on Earth and the most versatile healing crystal known. Pure silicon dioxide, it forms perfect six-sided prisms. Ancient peoples around the world — from the Celts to the Japanese — believed it was permanent ice sent by the gods.

- Everyday uses
- Electronics: quartz oscillators are in virtually every digital clock, watch, computer, and smartphone to regulate precise timing — the most important industrial use of any crystal. Sonar technology and ultrasound medical equipment use quartz's piezoelectric properties. Optical lenses, prisms, and high-precision scientific instruments. Silica sand (crushed quartz) is a primary ingredient in glass manufacturing. Semiconductors: silicon derived from quartz is the foundation of all modern computer chips. Radio frequency technology — quartz crystals transmit and receive radio signals.
- Spiritual meaning
- Called the 'master healer' because it amplifies the energy of any other crystal placed near it. Clear quartz brings clarity of thought, enhances memory and concentration, and lifts depression by raising the body's overall energetic frequency. It is said to connect all chakras, making it an all-purpose spiritual tool.
- Formation
- Clear quartz forms in pegmatites and hydrothermal veins where silica-rich water cools slowly deep within the earth. It crystallises over millions of years into its iconic hexagonal prism shape. Its remarkable clarity comes from the purity of silicon dioxide with minimal impurities.
- Where it is found
- Found virtually everywhere on Earth — Brazil, USA (Arkansas produces exceptionally clear specimens), Madagascar, the Alps, China, South Africa, and Australia. Arkansas alone produces millions of pounds of quartz annually.
